I can't imagine what you would have to do for this job to take 10 hours, unless audi trains you to drink lots of beers and/or take an 8 hour joyride in an S. I've always used either the pentosin stuff from the dealer or the febi/bilstein equivalent. but i imagine the seals are similar on both sides. Any input would be appreciated, thanks in advance folks.Īlso, after disassembling the old (2nd) rack, it had failed on the passenger side, and the first one had failed on the driver's side. All of the pressure and suction/return lines seem okay, but i may find differently once I have the engine bay torn apart for a timing belt/clutch job. how often has anyone seen this issue? I know the pumps are prone to failure, but I haven't been able to find any info on the racks. So I know I need to replace the rack again, but my question is. after parking it in the snow, it would seem that the same problem has developed with this rack, green fluid in the snow just beneath both tie rod ends. A few weeks ago, however, the system drained fast again and i had to fill it up, which the car immediately vomited out, leaving me pretty close to dry and with no power steering. enough that I needed to keep a bottle of fluid in the car when it got low. except a few months later it developed a slow leak. So I sourced a used rack from a car with probably 80k miles, replaced it, seemed fine for a bit. Turned out that the fluid was spitting out of the driver's side at the tie rod end. So about a year and a half ago, my power steering took a crap on me.
